"Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas."
-Albert Einstein
Mathematics in the new curriculum is no longer just the learning of numeracy. There is a big emphasis on problem solving, so that students can adapt to the changing conditions and demands of the world. Our goal is to provide the essential mathematical knowledge, and to promote and encourage the skills of reasoning, problem solving and communicating. We also believe in helping the students acquire and build on the necessary skills in mathematics, so that they will be successful in their future courses as well as in their chosen professions.
Our department is committed to ensuring that our students achieve success, and we encourage open communication with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress throughout the year.
Extra help is available before school, during lunch and after school. Many of our senior level students also offer their services as peer tutors. Peer tutoring can be arranged through the guidance office.
